Optimize a CV

Updated 2026-10

What you will do

  • Open the studio from an opportunity
  • Choose which gaps to add, and where they belong
  • Review the suggested wording and save a separate CV

Before you open it

You need a CV on Profile. If you skipped the upload, add one first. See Profile and CV.

The studio does not invent jobs. If a skill is not already supported by your experience, it asks you to describe where you used it. A project without that context is not added.

Open the studio

  1. Open an opportunity.
  2. In the right column, choose Optimize CV for this opportunity. While it prepares, the button reads Preparing CV….
  3. If the email contains several offers, Optimize CV asks Choose which opportunities this CV should cover. Offers already selected for your reply are checked. Select all checks the rest. Archived offers are stamped Archived. Continue opens the studio. Cancel closes the picker. While the CV is prepared, Continue reads Preparing….

The studio title follows the offer. Current profile marks the CV you started from. ✕ closes the studio.

On a phone, drag the grabber between the sheet and the suggestions to give one side more room.

What the studio compares

While suggestions are loading, the status is AI is comparing the offer with your CV…. While a rewrite runs, it is AI is optimizing your CV….

You can also click any paragraph on the sheet. The hint is Click any paragraph on the CV to edit it.

Optimization level

When suggestion cards are available, Optimization level has three choices:

  • Important — Adds only the high-priority gaps and technologies.
  • Balanced — Adds high and medium priorities.
  • Maximum — Also adds the low-priority technologies.

The hint under the control changes with the choice. Each suggestion can show High, Medium, or Low, and a category such as Skill, Language, Domain, Seniority, Responsibility, Keyword, Profile, Certification, or Methodology.

General context

General context is optional. The help line is Optional notes applied only to the project or line being rewritten. Example placeholder: Keep the existing facts and mention the banking domain in this project.

A counter shows how much of that note you have used.

Suggestion cards

The heading counts them, such as 3 optimization suggestions. A summary can sit above the cards.

Each card has:

  • Add to CV — untick it to leave that change out. A skipped card stays visible so you can tick it again.
  • Edit / Close — expand or collapse the card.
  • To complete — the card needs a description before it can be added. The note says Describe where you used this skill, otherwise this project will not be added.
  • Suggested target — where the change will land. Open it to pick another place.

If there are no cards, the empty line says to use the summary, the stack list, or context on a line you edit.

Choose where a skill goes

Suggested target opens Choose where to add that skill. Only the selected section will be updated.

You can pick:

  • Profile summary — Update your profile summary
  • Title — Update the job title on your CV
  • An experience, then Role title, Experience summary, one of its projects, or Create a new project
  • Personal projects, then one project

Confirm selection keeps that target. If the CV has no experience yet, the picker says No experiences on this CV.

You can also drag a technology onto the sheet. The mobile hint is Drag and drop onto the CV · swipe for more. Where did you use that skill asks you to select the profile, an experience, or a project. Cancel leaves placement mode.

A placed skill can take optional context, such as Used on this mission, optional. × removes that placement.

If the current projects and the summary are too far from the skill, the card asks Where and how did you use it? Context is required. Without it, that project will not be added. You can still point the suggestion at an existing project instead.

AI Suggestion asks for wording before you apply. While it runs, the button reads Analyzing offer…. Cancel drops those suggestions. Optimize CV runs the plan. After suggestions are selected, that button reads Apply 1 change or Apply N changes. While a rewrite runs, it reads Optimizing…. The footer counts selected suggestions and technologies.

When there is nothing left to add, the empty line is Your profile already covers the technologies for this opportunity.

Review and save

After you apply the plan, Suggested changes lists each rewrite:

  • Before — the current text
  • Suggested — an editable version

Hover a card to highlight that part of the sheet.

The save note says: Saving keeps this CV in your library. You can attach it or make it current afterwards.

  • Discard changes leaves the profile as it was.
  • Save CV stores the optimized copy. While it runs, the button reads Saving….

The saved CV shows up under Saved CVs as Optimized, and under Your CV and CVs you can add on the opportunity. It does not replace the base CV, and it is not attached to a reply, until you choose it. See Reply to a recruiter.

There is no separate download button inside the studio. Download the PDF from Profile or from Your CV on the opportunity.

The next offer does not have to sit in another tab.

Bring it in from email, a LinkedIn message, or a job link. Sunary keeps the skills, the CV, and the reply in one place.
