Opportunities
Add and edit an opportunity
Updated 2026-10
What you will do
- Add an opportunity from notes or a job URL
- Edit details, the required action, and the status path
- Link a conversation or mark a message as not an opportunity
Add opportunity
- Open Opportunities.
- Choose Add opportunity.
- Paste a job posting URL, notes from a call or message, or both in the same box. The placeholder shows the kind of facts that help: a URL, a stack, a duration, a rate, a city, and an email.
- Choose Analyze with AI. A URL is read from the posting. Notes are sorted into the job title, contact, rate, and the other fields.
- The review title is Does this look right? The kicker is Review. Click a fact to fix it. Clear empties the fact you are editing. Missing details stay hidden until you add one.
- Choose Save opportunity. While skills are compared, the button can read Comparing skills…. While the card is stored, it reads Saving….
If you close the dialog with unsaved work, Sunary asks Discard this opportunity? Keep editing stays in the dialog. Discard throws the draft away.
Facts you can review
The summary can be edited. View your notes shows the original paste. Hide notes folds it.
Facts, when they were found or you add them:
- Job title
- Recruiter — name and email
- Phone
- URL
- Contact via — Phone, LinkedIn, Job platform, Other
- Client
- Agency
- Duration — a number plus Months, Years, Short-term, or Long-term
- Rate — Exact, Around, or Range
- Start — ASAP or Date
- Location
- Homeworking — On-site, Full remote, or 1 day / week through 5 days / week
- Stack — chips that can show how they match your CV
- Languages — French, Dutch, English, German
Stack chips use the same match, partial, and missing treatment as the opportunity list.
Edit an existing opportunity
- Open the opportunity.
- Choose Edit. The dialog title is Edit opportunity.
- Choose Edit details to change the job title, contact, and notes. The hint is Job title, contact, and notes. Saving uses the same review as a new card.
- Save changes stores the required action. Cancel closes the dialog. While the action is stored, the button reads Saving….
Required action
The section asks What do you want to do with this opportunity? Pick one card:
- Reply by email — You will reply directly to the recruiter.
- Apply on platform — Open the application link instead of emailing. An Application URL field appears. It is marked Optional. The open button next to the field follows that URL.
- No action required — Keep it for tracking only.
On the list, Apply on platform and No action required show as badges. Replying by email does not add a separate badge.
If the email contains several opportunities, the help line says the choice applies to all of them.
When the card has a sender address, you can tick Also apply this choice to future emails from that address. Future mail from that address keeps the same required action. That choice is separate from Forced senders in Settings.
You can still email the recruiter from Sunary after you choose Apply on platform.
Change status
Status is separate from the required action. From the opportunity header, choose Status, then New, In progress, or Archived, then Save status. See Read an opportunity.
Link a conversation
If two items are about the same job, open Link conversation. The hint is Merge another opportunity about the same job, including ones you added.
- Search the list. Cards you added are marked Added by you.
- Select one. The help line says its messages move onto the open opportunity, then the other card is removed from the list.
- Choose Link and merge. While it runs, the button reads Linking…. Load more fetches another page when the search is long.
- Back returns to Edit opportunity when you opened the list from there. Otherwise the button is Cancel.
The conversation section also counts messages already on the opportunity.
Not an opportunity
If a message is not an opportunity:
- Open Not an opportunity? The hint is Remove this item from your opportunities.
- Optionally tick Also hide future messages from that sender.
- Confirm Remove from list. While it runs, the button reads Removing….
Hidden senders stay off the list. From Settings you can View hidden senders and choose Unhide. View forced senders lists addresses whose incoming mail is always treated as an opportunity. Remove drops one from that list. See Connect your mailbox.
